Today I’m sharing another free pattern with you! Ever since I picked all the lavender from my garden to fill little sachets, I’ve completely fallen in love with scented bags. They are super easy to make, perfect for using up leftover yarn, and incredibly fun to give as gifts.
Of course, they’re also wonderful to keep for yourself — for example in your wardrobe, bathroom, guest room, and so much more. Today I’m sharing a simple crochet scented sachet pattern with you. Read on!
Do You Have Lavender or Other Fragrant Flowers in Your Garden?
Don’t throw them away when the season ends!
Dry the flowers in a sunny spot in your home for about a week. While they’re drying, you can grab your yarn and crochet hook and start making a few easy sachets. That way, you can enjoy the lovely scent of your garden much longer — and you’ll have a beautiful handmade gift ready for friends or family.
My Garden
My garden is full of lavender, both in the front and the back of the house. This year was the first time the lavender turned a truly gorgeous purple. The scent was amazing, and I loved watching the insects busily at work — moving from roses to lavender and on to other flowers.
I could watch those fluffy bumblebees for hours, with their fuzzy coats and little yellow legs covered in nectar.
But enough about my garden (haha)! Below you’ll find the scented sachet pattern that I also sell online. Want to make one yourself? How fun! If you share it on Instagram, please tag me — I’d love to see your color combinations and which flowers you used.

- slst = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase
- blo = back loops only
You’ll need
- Drops Karisma Natural
- Crochet Hook 3.5 mm
- Green & purple cotton yarn, like Hobbii Rainbow Cotton
- Scissers
- Stop needle
- Dried lavender or other flowers
Patterns
The scented sachet is worked in continues rounds:
- R1: MR with 6 sc (6)
- R2: (inc) x6 (12)
- R3: (1sc, inc) x6 (18)
- R4: (2sc, inc) x6 (24)
- R5: BLO, 24 sc (24)
- R6-16: 24 sc
- R17: 1 sc, 1 ch, skip 1 stitch, repeat till end of tour
- R18-19: 24 sc in the round; in the last stitch of round 19: 1 slst in the first stitch, fasten off
Make a chain of about 40 chains. Measure in between stitches that the chain doesn’t become too long, because you need to pull it through the loops of round 17 to pull the sachet close.
The baggie is done, now head over to the little embroidery part.
Embroidery
- Step 1: Use green yarn to embroider a tiny stem of about 4 stitches high
- Stap 2: Use the purple yarn. Insert your needle from the inside to the outside, wrap the yarn around the needle twice, push the little “knot” down, and insert the needle back through the same hole. Repeat this to create the lavender flowers.
Now the scented sachet is done. To add lavender, you can buy little bags and put those in. Or you can sew your own tiny bag with leftover fabrics or from old t-shirts. The bag will be placed inside, so no one will see it ;)
Happy crocheting!
